Display Title Tapa
Descriptions
Indigenous Term Tapa or Kapa
Object Description Thin, light-weight, long and rectangular cloth that has a golden light-brown tone. It is made from a single layer of well macerated inner bark fibers that are evenly pounded. It is difficult to discern a grain direction, but it appears to run perpendicular to the length. It is decorated with an overall "net and dot" beater pattern that is not well defined. Where the pattern is more pronounced, the cloth is very sheer. The edges are finished by cutting. There are no joins noticeable.
