Object Description
Lau'a, tapa in process of manufacture. A small, light weight, diaphanous, finely pounded cloth made from a single layer of off-white inner bark fibers. The direction of the grains are parallel to the length of the cloth. A natural pound edge remains on the longer ends, ahile the shorter ends appear to be cut. Manufacture related crease and fold lines are present throughout, in addition to natural branch related holes. Identifying numbers: a Peabody Museum catalogue number in black has been applied on to one edge of the cloth.
