Object Description
Two small sections cut from a larger tapa cloth; appear likely from Tonga. One section is 50 cm x 198 cm long with 14 cm turned under; the other is 42 cm x 207 cm. The two narrow long cut sections are cut from a much larger medium-weight cloth, primarily off-white with a few narrow lines or brush strokes in a matte red-brown paint. Two sheets pasted; face side grain in lengthwise with the rear or lower sheet cross-grain. Each cloth has one cut edge, one rough/uneven edge (side of the larger cloth) and two folded over ends that have been adhered/glued (not original manufacture). The edges of the turned ends are rough/uneven as originally beaten.
