Object Description
Shirt or tunic is sleeveless constructed of one long narrow undecorated piece of beaten bark cloth reaching down to knee length or below. As constructed it is folded at center (shoulder area) and seamed at sides. The cloth appears mottled light-brown to grayish-brown; inner bark fibers are possibly from a ficus tree. The neck area is V shaped at front and rear. Original foldlines from manufacture of the beaten cloth are evident across width. Grain of cloth runs lengthwise as shirt is constructed. Catalogue number is written in red-orange paint at shoulder area (noted here as rear side).
