Object Description Dress of chief's daughter. Rectangular tabord-style barkcloth garment (tiputu); open sides with wide, pinked edged fringe; rounded neck opening bound with a plain weave printed cellulosic fabric strip (in two pieces), back-stitched in place with a minimally processed vegetable fiber sewing strand. The lower edges of the garment are pinked in small triangular points. (Ref: Kooijman 1972 pp 289-93 discusses tiputus and this one and indicates that it is likely from Niue.) Additional object description under conservation.
