Object Description
Rug. Imitation of classic Navajo serape. Aniline-dyed z-spun blue, red, and white wool, from 1980's Teotitlan de Valle in Oaxaca, Mexico. Repeat pattern from one side to the other consists of the following combinations: band at bottom in stepped triangles between blue and white; undulating stepped band of blue and white with straight blue and white alternating stripes at both ends outlined in red; broad blue band with four undulating stepped red lines; center panel consists of large broad horizontal white band with large blue stepped diamond on each side with red stepped trim. Four white triangles that are produced from this have a total of five graduated blue bands outlined in red with repeat pattern on other half. Twisted warp to produce fringe at both ends.
