Descriptions
Object Description
Fetish worn around neck. Netted necklace with bundles of wood and seed pods.
The object is a neck-piece made out of strands of twisted fibers that have been knotted, forming a net which extends into a circular bundle of textiles (possibly containing plant materials). Strands of seed pods and sticks of wood are attached to a circle of cordage and a smaller bunch of textiles, also wrapped in netting, sit on top of the large netted bundle.
The textiles, pods and wooden sticks appear to be covered with a dark crusty material resembling dirt.
Identifying numbers:
A Peabody number on twill tap is sewn on to the netted fabric bundle. Two catalogue numbers appear, one in red on the wooden stick and a paper tag attached to the larger cloth bundle.
