Object Description
Baby's hammock , native name: amalajiri. made by women. Consists of a z-twist, 2 ply bast fiber knotted net which is looped around two light weight wooden rods, one at either end of net. looped around both ends of rods are 2 braided bast fiber cords used to suspend hammock. attached to the bottom side of the net are three clumps of snail shells (iurara) + 3 varieties of nuts. black one are called erori. shells + nuts are strung to bast fiber cords. 80 x 30 nettig, 145 l 140 l cords, 25.5 + 26.7 rods.
