Handwritten on front: "p 3 / July 10 1951 / feather. done by 2 children. red started. blue finished / start of human figure by new child. discontinued / human - head and im added later by some child. / wildebeest. front view. excellent! / tin can. early attempt. done right after ostrich egg shell. / Drawing of Bob Dyson who was waving his arms + roaming trying to get them to draw lion - note feet. / appearing for the first time / kids have great interest in boots - yellow crayon picked purposely - Bob had yellow shirt + hair. / fig. of human - done after other human drawings / not at request. / axe - note blade missing / this drawn after painted it out."
