Killock. Wooden four pronged anchor, tag says “Martha’s Vineyard”
Object Description
Peabody Museum records indicate that this four-pronged killock (anchor) was collected from Gay Head on Martha’s Vineyard. Small anchors are useful items; when used with dugout canoes (mishoon), they enabled Wampanoag people to deftly navigate the waters of New England.
