Descriptions
Object Description
Coin: Copper farthing, British, 1625-1636. Obverse: CAROLUS D: G: MAG BRIT (Charles, by Grace of God, of Great Britain) surrounding a crown and crossed scepters. Reverse: REX FRAN ET HIB (King of France and Ireland) surrounding a crowned Irish Harp. Minted after 1625 when Charles I took the throne, and before 1636, when the Irish harp was replaced with an English Rose. See Stubbs 1993: 27.
Lack of wear suggests the coin was lost shortly after entering circulation.
