Fully-quilled birch bark basket with lid; moose motif

Object Description
Round bent birch bark lidded basket fully covered on visible portions with decorative quillwork in multicolored and undyed (natural white shading to light brown) porcupine quills. Green grass and reddish brown moose against white and tan background on lid, with decorative embroidery stitches (running stitch, sheaf stitch, elaborated cross stitch) around circumference of top, and also around sides of lid and basket, in undyed quills alternating with red, pink, green, purple, and brown. Rims of basket and lid reinforced with bundles of sweet grass, sewn on with black cotton thread. Bundles of sweet grass sewn on with undyed quills placed at top edge of lid, bottom edge of basket, and on side of basket to act as "lid rest."
Dimensions: height with lid = 10.5 cm, height to rim = 7 cm, diameter = 25.4 cm.
