Written in ink on photograph (verso): "Metzger Farm / June 9, 1951 / Bechuana workers playing / a game - with four rows / of 15 holes each and two / stones in each hole to / begin with. You pick up stones in one hole and drop them in the next / holes - eventually piles / accumulate and / then you calculate how / many empty holes you / must put stones in to reach the next pile which allows / you to go one. Don't know / the object yet."
