Object Description Two Japanese performers in full costume with swords, one with makeup. Print from PA-IN60-41, nineteenth century commercial photographic studio views of Japan. Subjects include portaiture as well as studio se-up scenes of Japanese "daily life." Photographs are primarily albumen prints, many with applied color. Many of the photographs in this collection can be found in "A Timely Encounter: 19th Century Photographs of Japan." Photographs were exhibited in Peabody Museum and Wellesley college joint exhibition.
