Object Description
Written on board: "Pennsylvania (Fayette County) / Reduced copy from tracing of Picture Rock, in Fayette County, PA. / Opposite to Millsborough, on top of River Hill. / 390 feet above River. / Copied on Muslin, Sept. 1882 by J. Sutton Wall and William Arison. / Note: The outlines of Figures & c are formed by grooves carved or cut in the rock from an inch to a mere trace in depth. The foot prints are carved depressions. Figure 1 is a circular cavity 7 inches deep. The rock us sand-stone, belonging to the Waynesburg series. / J. Sutton Wall, C&M.E. Monongahela City, PA."
