Object Description Written on board: Guilford, Connecticut Watering-trough These carvings were examined by C.C. Willoughby, July 11, 1931, in company with A.D. Hotchkiss (see other side), Professor F.W. Holmes & Mr. Hentz, at which time it was decided that they were the work of a white man, probably one of the workmen at a nearby quarry, either for his own amusement or because he was mentally unbalanced. In addition to the carvings pictured are two sculptured heads. Also there are several other flat rocks hollowed on top. Near the watering trough was the foundation of a crude shed which may have been a stable. Photos Gift of Mrs. Katherine Burr Fleming of Hampden, Conn.
