Object Description Written on board: "Delaware. (Hollyoak) / Natural Size / Found in "peat and fallen forest layer," near Holly Oak Station P.W. B.R.R., 1864 by M. De Surault and Hilborne J. Cresson. (to be placed in Cresson Collection) / Presented to Peabody Museum, Hilborne J. Cresson. / Photographed by Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. / (over) (central figure) Shell pendant (Probably F. Carica) Loaned to H. J. Cresson, assistant of the Peabody Museum by Mrs. Fred Spencer of New York. In loaning this ? speciman of Aboriginal American Art I have been requested by the estate to which it belongs as follows, "Prof F. W. Putnam will please examine the shell pendant, taking as much time as he may desire for that purpose." [see Object Description text entry for extended description]
