Descriptions
Object Description
A group of boys in Windhoek, 1957–58. This integrated group is unusual: until 1977 South Africa applied its apartheid laws in Windhoek, enforcing employment discrimination; segregating urban residential areas, schools, and public facilities; prohibiting interracial intercourse and marriage; and restricting rural-urban migration. Photograph by Robert Gesteland.
