Object Description
Ivory carving - 3 owls sitting on a tree, set in stone platform. Antler, stone, ivory and black pigment. A piece of antler is set into a diamond shaped stone base (soapstone ?). Three owls (one large and two small) carved out of ivory sit on the tines of the antler. They are attached via small posts carved in the ivory which fit into holes in the antler. The eyes and beaks of the owls are painted with black pigment.The Peabody number is written in black on the bottom of the base.
