Transcribed Annotations Written on board: "Ma-u-rita. Zuni / [verso] Gift of Frederick A. Delano of Chicago, June, 1899. Original painting by Elbridge A. Burbank. Ma-u-rita (Zuni [Woman]). A witch, the Zunis had hung her up for punishment, but U.S. Troops from Fort Wingate liberated her, and arrested the chiefs of the Bow."
