Object Description
Narrated professional film about the history of the cricket game and how it evolved from the rules and customs of British game into a version that fits into the native people's traditional culture of ritualized warfare. First part is an introduction to history of game in Trobriand with footage from 1950s film (in collection-Trobriand Islanders) and photographs. Footage for rest of film consists of documentation of one game between two villages, one village hosts, concentrates on preparations at host village, dances and chants during game, and gift exchange after the game.
