Written on board: "Aino / Japan / over / (verso) Aino / Gift of Dr H M Hiller 1902 / Phila. Pa / A woman's grave stake / In additon tot he black cloth / on the cross piece. / a piece of twisted or plaited / Cord is wound about the post. / covering a space of from four to / six- inches. This cord is similar / to the cord that is bound around / the corpse. / The shallowness of the grave is / also evident in this photograph."
