Object Description Written on board: "Gilyak / Siberia / 36-109 / The represetns a religious rite of the Gilyaks. In Spring when / the Gilyaks cut the stem of the plant "poutchi" (rhubarb), the oldest / woman of the tribe must before the stems are cut, perform a / dance to the music (?) of boys beating sticks together. The boys are / those who had been the best behaved of the tribe. / Gift of C. H. Hawes"
