Object Description Written on board: India / Pataliputra, / Near Patna, county [crossed out] state of Bihar, Bengal [crossed out] / "Wooden Walls" of Pataliputra: remains of a 21-mile-long / defensive palisade, pierced by 64 gates and crowned / by 570 towers, with a moat outside. Pasted on reverse of board is a printed article by Sir John Marshall titled "A Wooden City of the Third Century BC: Pataliputra."
