Object Description
Written on board: "New Hebrides / Malakula Island / Melanesia / A village of the "Big Nambas" tribe 8 or 9 miles inland from / the northwest coast at an altitude of about 3000 ft. Two / of the 8 or 9 "sacred houses". They are 15' high, 30' wide / and 60' long. When a chief dies a "sacred house " is built in his honor."
