Object Description
Transformation mask of an old man on exterior and young man on interior. Young man has unpainted face, black eyebrows, red on lips and sides of nose, and round black and white eyes lined in black and red. His mouth is open with an extended lower lip having abalone shell labret. He has black and light brown horsehair for hair. Old man on exterior is heavily wrinkled, and has the same eyes, nose, and mouth as young man. He has blond horsehair for hair. The interior surface of the old man mask is fully painted and consists of stylized zoomorphic features in red, white, black, gold, and turquoise. Both masks are mounted on an oval base painted black. Several strings and a wooden piece control the opening/closing mechanism. Signed on back "Tsungani 79".
