Display Title Three-strand necklace of turquoise on shell heishi, with a pair of jaklas

Object Description Navajo or Santo Domingo Pueblo necklace from 1970s. Three strands of chunk turquoise beads strung spaced with shell heishi, on cotton string twisted to form the back of the necklace (the part that goes behind the neck). Tied on to the necklace is a pair of jaklas. They are of graduated turquoise heishi on cord, twisted together above the ending beads of red glass. At bottom center on each jackla are three triangular pieces of polished redshell. Max length of necklace and jaklas: 53 cm Max width: 5 cm Max depth: 2 cm Necklace only: Continuous strand 40 cm from back of neck to bottom of front. Heishi are .3 cm in diameter. Width: 5 cm Depth: 1.8 cm Jacklas: Two loops tied to bottom of necklace. heishi are graduated, from .3 cm to .6 cm. At bottom cente[see Object Description text entry for extended description]
