Written on album page: "Dinka. Notice the length of horn of / the cattle. The batches of growth / may be grass to be used for / building purposes; or it may be millet. / I do not know. The white smear on their / bodies is a daub of mud and ash / that serves in part as adornment and / in part as protection against the savage mosquitoes of the region"
