Object Description
Identified photographic portraits of Native Americans (tribal delegations) taken during tribal visits to Washington D. C. between 1857 - 1858 by the McClees (Addis) Washington studio. Tribal cultures represented include Algonquin/Ottawa (1), Choctaw (2), Dakota Santee (14), Dakota Yankton (31), Dakota (5), Dakota Sioux (5), Dakota Teton (3), Mdewakanton Sioux (6), Pawnee (12), Ponca (3), Pottawatomie (2), Sacs and Foxes (6), Teton (3), Uta (2), Wahpeton sioux (2). A list of identified portrait subjects accompanies the photographs.
