Written on album page: "The village of Ekibondo, a powerful chief. The growth has become of wet character - the / graceful trees are oil palms. The people of this village, while not true Mangbetu, / have largely adopted Mangbetu manners. The Mangbetu are the people of the region most / given to the arts; their carvings in ivory and ebony are now well known to Africanists; / and their tendencies seem to have found expression in the beauty of this village."
