Written in pencil on board (verso): "55-59P-17 / L. K. Marshall / The gesture means wildebeest, buffalo / or wart hog to the !Kung. Emphasis / is on the wide apart horns and, / in the case of the hog, the tusks / wide apart in the nose. For / wildebeest the hand is held upright, / for hog the hand is parallel to / the ground. When the same gesture / is used to indicate two or more / animals the !Kung distinguish between / them sometimes by making a motion / with their hand and arm which / imitates the running motion of the animal. / (Cf 55-59P-14 for back view.) / 140"
