Object Description
Palmer writes that this toy is made of the end of a pumpkin (game hokian - see x-file for score). The gourd is definitely a cucurbit, though it may or may not be a pumpkin specifically. There are 17 rings of gourd strung on a piece of leather in ascending order of size, with the smallest in diameter (1") closest to the button. At one end, a metal army army button with a shank is tied to the leather. On one side of the button is an eagle and a shield with remnants of red pain on the shield. On the other side are the words "Scovill Mfg. Co. Waterbury." At the other end of the leather, closest to the largest diameter rings (1.5"), is tied a wooden stick 3.75" long. The length of the leather is about 13".
