Object Description
Large chief's stool carved from single block of dense, close-grain wood, stained. Stylized carving is of crouching female figure supporting round platform at tips of her fingers and on her head. Figure is carved in-the-round in high relief with intricately incised pattern at thighs and accross abdomen depicting scarification. The base and platform are also decoratively incised around their perimeters. There is a red pigment applied to the interstices of the incised hair.
