Object Description
Chief's chair. Wooden chair with hide and an array of carved figures.; assembled in ten pieces joined with plugs or dowels. Three figures decorate the back. The central figure is dressed and wears a mask with an elaborately curving headdress. He is flanked by two figures, a woman with a child who is supporting a food basket on her head; and to his PR, a male wearing a bell-like neck piece and is holding a hunting rifle on his PL arm. The two front legs are carved as human figures. The front PL figure wears a cloth tied above her breasts. Four stiles or rungs create a "circle of image". The two front scene with two seated woman; PR, divination process; PL, instument playing; and back, a five-figure divination scene.
