Object Description
Divination tray, carved wood, border round, 11.25" dia.
The object is a wooden tray carved from a single sheet of wood. It is oval in shape having a convex center boardered with a carved frame. At the top of the frame is a face having large features; on the PR is a image of a mudfish; to the PL is a upside down figure of a bird holding a palm-nut in its beak; and the lower area is incised with lines and zig-zags.
The surface of the object appears to be coated and also painted with a black brown pigment.

A Peabody Museum number in black ink has been applied to the verso of the tray.
