Object Description
Fetish figure, bead eyes, charms on neck
Carved wooden figure. The object is a small male figure on a circular shaped pedestal carved from a single piece of wood. The figure has distinctive features, a large head, protruding belly with hands flat on it, bent knees, large flat toes spread out on the the base and red and white beaded eyes that are attached with a black/brown paste-like material. A small hole is present at the top of the head and both ears. A thin strip of machine made plain-weaved fiber hangs from the objects PR ear. The figure wears 6 pointed cylinders, 5 are wood and one is a woven cloth fiber, strung onto a cotton fiber cord that is hung around the figure's neck.
Indentifying marks: A Peabody Museum catalogue number has been applied to the back of the pedestal in red ink.
