Object Description
Figure of male cotton picker mounted on wooden base; carved wax head, limbs; big toe on left foot missing; nicely detailed face with carved wrinkles, modelled ears and cheekbones; blackened brows, lashes, lid linings, pupils, moustache; brown eyes; whitened eye-whites; pink lips; cigar; he is wearing a straw hat, which is pinned to his head, white cotton shirt with collar and cuffs, rolled-up grey and white checked cotton pants roped at the waist; he is carrying a cotton bundle, bound up with a rope which is slung over his left shoulder; in his right hand is a stick on a string. The figure is jointed at the shoulders and the movement of the arms has caused the shirt to tear; some holes in pants; insect frass on wool or cotton bundle
