Headdress for a mask
Object Description
Headdress constructed of leather, textiles, animal fur, horse hairs, seashells, buttons, plant fibers, copper alloy bells; a small mirror and porcelain knob. It has a rounded shape and consists of patches of burgundy, black and buff leather and spotted fur lined over textile. The surface of the patches are decorated with seahells and buttons arranged to form the shape of a flower; stitched plant fibers also decorate the patches. The crown of the headdress has a crest made of long blond horse hairs that continue in the same line into a tail made from patches of leather and red textiles terminating with four copper alloy bells (brass), a copper alloy plate, a white porcelain knob and blond horse hairs. This headdress belongs to 40-34-50/4593. LS: Prov. OK, Tiara - like headdress worn by masker (see label).
