"Goondo", unbleached straw, 21" dia. most basic woven item, simplest to construct. Wrap and coil method. Shape best when strong and tight in center, with slight flexibility in the upward bowl shaped edge. Used as 1) tray for boudaina (flat rubber pancake) storage; 2) platter for eating; 3) winnowing instrument; 4) prtable base for selling market spices and grains; 5) cover for baking irjerra. Costs $.40 - $.70. 12 - 16 hrs. to make.
