"Gabe": gourd basket used for milk, after sealing treatment, used during milking and for clabbering milk. Often lid is used to keep cottage cheese remaining after churning butter. The cheese (badu) is drunk directly from the lid. Gourds of symmetrical shape are prized for this use either for cutting off around the widest portion, to make a completely woven cover; or to allow for a fitting of the gourd. 6 hours to weave; costs $.90 - $1.00 ea. 12" h 7" dia.
