Object Description
Masonko: word from Amhara, masinko, a 1-stringed guitar instrument used by an asmani to accompany himself as he sings for special gatherings. Asmari (or Asmani, spelling not clear), makes his own instrument by stretching goatskin over a wooden frame. String is horsehair (tail). This one was bought from Wagjira, an Asmari who performs in the area of Kiram minder in Kiramu-Gidda-Tchalia Werede; Horo-Guduru; Gwaraja Wallega.
