Object Description
Ornamental comb fabricated from plant fiber. The comb has 14 teeth carved from flat, sturdy plant fiber, possibly reed or the central vein of palm leaf. The handle is comprised of thinner split fiber elements interwoven around the teeth in a decorative diamond pattern. The loop handle at the top incorporates the 4 outermost teeth, wrapped with the thinner fiber elements. Whereas the main structure of the comb, teeth and woven design, is of more sturdy/woody materials, the decorative weave is terminated with a more flexible wrapping that appears to be leaf fiber.
