Object Description
Padlock. Made as a child's good luck charm. Given to children 100 days old and worn around their neck until 6-8 years old. Silver (?) covered with reliefs of plants and four Chinese characters on one side; on other side, a figure in a landscape with a bat and a hut. Hollow, with bar of lock unmovable. Hanging from scalloped edge are 5 pendants consisting of 19 leaf-shaped pieces incised with Chinese characters. <transliteration> (Chinese name). 21.2 cm. (l) x 7 cm. (w) x .8 cm. (d).
