Object Description
Warp-faced plain weave sash, 1892, in black, green and red s-spun 3-ply wool with abrown weft. Composed of five vertical bands. Center red band with red and black warp float pattern of continuous daimonds outlined (inside and out) with stepped triangles. Outside edges are black separated from center band by green bands. Sides are as woven. Warp ends are grouped, then plaited and knotted to creat fringe on one end. Short twist to create fringe on other end. Long fringe also has one blue bead attached. Length: 316 cm; Width: 8.6 cm, Depth: .2 cm. Thread count: Warp -- 18 ends/cm; Weft -- 6 ends/cm. Good condition. Parts of side selvage frayedor with holes. Also some small holes in center panel and areas of broken warp threads.
