Object Description
Stoneware, Rhenish, sherds; grey body, salt-glazed. Cobalt and manganese colorant, applied decoration. Two are rims with "heart and diamond" decoration; band just below rim of tankard (one of which is used as the cover photo on Stubbs 1993, "Salvage Archaeology in Harvard Yard"). Others are body sherds; one has "bird and flower motif" with game bird and floral desgins. One has border fragment from medallion with the text, "ET" (possibly latin phrase around medallion). Others have plain floral motifs or unidentified designs. 17th-18th cen, probably 18th cen.
