Object Description
Armor covered with Chinese coins from the Qing Dynasty. Coins from the reigns of four consecutive emperors are sewn on the shirt. These are Emperor Shun-Zhi (A.D. 1644-1661), Emperor Kang-Xi (1662-1722), Emperor Yong-Zhen (1722-1735), and Emperor Qian-Long (1735-1796). Made of thick walrus skin or moose hide - trimmed with Chinese coins brought to region by fur trade. Type of shirt worn under armor. Pendants at bottom are beaks of puffin. 2 buttons off the piece.
