Display Title Sacred shrine called "knees of god"
Descriptions
Object Description Depression in immense rock near Metel in the Bene country, Cameroon, called "mebong me zambe" (knee of God). Is near a water hole. Tradition says that while rock was in still a plastic state, god knelt here and left impression of his knees. Evidently this is a sort of sacred shrine, where natives frequently kneel, as the impressions are worn smooth.
