Written on board: "Huichol / Mexico / Jalisco / 40-88 / N30393 H8114"; Typed caption on mount: "A stuffed fox is carried by one of the Peyote Fiesta celebrators. In its / mouth is a beraggled doll representing a Christian. Although many animals / are considered sacred, the attitude of the dancers to this stuffed fox was / light jesting. Like certain other primitive races, the Huichols mix / mockery and buffoonery with some of their most sacred and solemn ceremonies."
