Object Description
Written on board: "Kwakiutl, Wakashan."; typed note on board: "Klalis and wife. Nov. 1899. / 18. The former has acted as guide and interpreter to C.F.N. since 1899 repeatedly. The crests on his coat are Thunder-bird, Whale, grizzly-bear and two-headed Serpent (sisiutl). / Proved very useful again in 1917. / Is half Kwakiutl of Fort Rupert and half white. / His wife is a full blood Kwakiutl of high rank. / Photos by C.F.N."
