Object Description
Written on board: "Arkansas / Buerkle, Stuttgart, Ark. /See Over / See other photograph / [verso] See another photo for reverse. / These 2 photos of a Discoidal stone and the 3 photos showing 2 carved stone pipes were found by W. H. Almond, while plowing on his farm a short distance from Minard's Mound, about 9 miles from Arkansas Port, County of Arkansas. The photos were sent to Mr. C. P. Bowditch in Dec 1902 who sent them to me. He received them from Mr. H. L. Stoddard of Stuttgart, Ark. / The pipes are 6 inches high, Woman 6 inch. long at base. 5 3/4 inch. high, the man 6 inch. high - The discoidal stone is 14 inch. in diameter, 1 1/2 thick. / See letter of H. L. Stoddard of Oct. 28th 1902 & Dec 7, 1902. Also the article by Stoddard in the Memphis Commercial Appeal of June 7, 1903. J.W.V."
